Americaneagle.com Team Claims Third Sitecore Hackathon Title

For the third time in three years, Americaneagle.com congratulates their Sitecore practice team for winning the Sitecore Hackathon!

“Hardcore Sitecore,” one of three Americaneagle.com team’s competing in the contest this year, comprised of Sitecore MVP James Gregory, Patrick Doran, and Matthew Stacy claimed one of three global prizes.

The Sitecore Hackathon is a community-driven event organized by Sitecore enthusiasts from all over the world. Each year, participants are asked to develop and code a digital project using Sitecore’s core features in just 24 hours. The 2022 edition of the event featured 64 teams from 22 countries around the world.

This year’s competitors could choose to meet one of three challenges:  

1. Build an ecommerce Minimum Viable Product to sell community t-shirts
2. Extend the Sitecore Command Line Interface (CLI) plugin
3. Best addition to the Sitecore MVP site

Americaneagle.com’s winning team took on the challenge of standing up a working ecommerce instance with Sitecore and Order Cloud within the allotted 24 hours.

Leveraging an Order Cloud starter kit along with the Vercel default catalog, “Hardcore Sitecore” created a simple Order Cloud storefront hosted within the Vercel platform. This storefront linked to Vercel Catalog and was supported by the powerful Sitecore platform allowing the team to meet the challenge of setting up a humble t-shirt store. 

This store marketed a single product, the Americaneagle.com Hackathon t-shirt, and the team leveraged the adaptability of the Sitecore platform to override the default product detail page, instead displaying custom content from a headless store within the team’s Sitecore instance.

To complete the challenge, “Hardcore Sitecore” implemented a simple email notification using one of the newest members of the Sitecore family, Sitecore Send (formally known as Moosend).
