BigCommerce Website Redesign Targets Success for Freedom Outdoors

Freedom Outdoors/Freedom Shooting Center is a business located in Virginia Beach, Virginia, with a state-of-the-art shooting facility and archery range. The company teaches gun safety classes as well as has a large in-store selection of firearms, firearms accessories, and archery gear. It also has an ecommerce website that sells a variety of the same products online. 

Challenges

Prior to partnering with Americaneagle.com, Freedom Outdoors operated two separate websites: Freedom Outdoors, built on BigCommerce, and Freedom Shooting Center, built on WordPress. The company sought a digital partner that would combine both websites into a redesigned, successful BigCommerce online store.

Solutions

Americaneagle.com combined both Freedom Outdoors and Freedom Shooting Center into one cohesive, user-friendly website leveraging BigCommerce. A variety of the platform’s out-of-the-box features were utilized, including the product categorization functionality to organize and streamline inventory. Approximately 102 categories, sourced from the company’s ERP system, were consolidated into 25 categories, significantly improving the user experience and thus, the website’s overall conversion rate. 

Additionally, custom widgets were developed to support a page builder experience similar to Freedom Outdoor’s legacy WordPress website. The new feature greatly empowers internal team members to quickly and easily add new content and update existing content as necessary. The easy-to-use yet robust content management system will be paramount to the company’s future growth. 

Freedom Outdoor’s new website benefits from a HubSpot Marketing Hub implementation to maximize lead generation and management, brand awareness, and revenue growth. After initial configuration of the marketing tool, Americaneagle.com designed a custom email template to be used for outbound marketing and lead generation, and created two custom automation workflows to empower quick and efficient delivery. 

The new website also benefits from the Yoast search engine optimization (SEO) plugin. During the development process, Americaneagle.com established foundational SEO elements through crawlable pages, logical URL structure, quick load time, canonical tags, XML sitemap files, and more. 

The result of the partnership with Americaneagle.com is a modern, sophisticated website, focused on user-friendly experiences for both internal team members and customers. The intuitive design helps to seamlessly navigate the site, empowering customers to more quickly convert because they no longer have to visit two separate websites to complete multiple tasks (e.g. booking a range and buying ammunition). Both Americaneagle.com and Freedom Outdoors are excited about the brand-new website’s initial performance metrics as well as seeing what the future has in store for the partnership.
