Healthy New Website Connects YMCA with Its Community

The YMCA of Greater Waukesha County has 8 locations throughout the County, including a camp, children's academy and wellness center. A variety of programs are offered to youth, teens, adults, and seniors with a community focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

Challenges

The YMCA of Greater Waukesha County's existing website had grown visibly outdated and the presentation of program offerings, schedules, and new opportunities was not user-friendly. They recognized the need to reimagine a modern web presence to effectively engage with their community. The YMCA of Greater Waukesha County aimed to streamline intuitive website navigation to promote usability, modernize the design to reflect the vibrancy of their eight YMCA locations, and centralize scheduling to allow site visitors to quickly identify opportunities by location, date, age, activity, and more.

When YMCA of Greater Waukesha sought a development partner for next-generation website success, they chose Americaneagle.com. Americaneagle.com was not only a recognized leader in advancing association website performance, but had also recently launched an award-winning website with the YMCA of Metro Chicago, a regional YMCA presence that also operates multiple locations.

The design team, with their recent exposure to YMCA brand standards and guidelines, had a confident head start creating layouts in alignment with the visual communication priorities of the YMCA of Greater Waukesha. Professionally consistent identity, logo, font use, color pallet, and other Waukesha County YMCA-centered design elements led a refreshingly modern new website design.

The user experience within the new web solution has taken an impactful leap forward as well. Clear navigation routes are now showcasing priority content and minimizing the number of clicks needed to efficiently lead YMCA members and guests to the most popular website resources.

The most improved and user-friendly section of the new website can be found within the listings of programs and events. Site visitors have celebrated the ease with which they browse opportunities at a specific location nearest them. For members who are active in specific exercise routines, such as lap swimming or stationary bike fitness, they can easily find those opportunities available at all of the Greater Waukesha County YMCA locations. The centralized scheduling was accomplished by the development team with customizations to a WordPress plugin. All schedule updates are now fully integrated with the YMCA’s existing event management system. The new website also integrates with that system’s online registration.

This reimagined online experience is helping its community connect with wellness. The new website has been an immediate hit with members and guests. The Greater Waukesha County YMCA is proud of this new digital experience and its representation of their abundant offerings and active role within the communities they serve.
