New York City Department of Education
Creating a New & Dynamic Web Experience for all Audiences
Americaneagle.com worked with the New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE) to redevelop their website. NYCDOE is the largest school district in the United States, with 1,800 schools and 135,000 teachers serving 1.1 million students.
The previous NYCDOE website was a decade old and the CMS (content management system) was antiquated, no longer being supported by the developer. The site was 10 years old, and contained more than 10,000 pages, and more than 15,000 PDFs. No use cases had been developed, navigation was difficult, and the site was not accessible, nor was it available in as many languages as the district desired.
NYCDOE partnered with Americaneagle.com to completely re-architect their online presence. After the school system had made the decision to utilize the powerful CMS Sitefinity, Americaneagle.com began the project with a strategy phase to establish information architecture and user stories to best establish the new site. With the incredible volume of content on the site, and the necessity to make it not only accessible, but multilingual, was paramount.
