Moraine Valley Community College
Turning a College’s Fragmented Web Experience Into a Cohesive Digital Ecosystem
Moraine Valley Community College is a public community college serving students across Chicago’s southwest suburbs through more than 130 degree, certificate, and community education programs. As a college with a large and diverse audience, Moraine Valley depends on its website to help users discover programs, access information, and engage with the services available across the institution.
Challenges
Moraine Valley Community College’s digital presence had grown increasingly difficult to manage and navigate. The college’s web ecosystem included multiple sites, thousands of pages, and content was being managed by numerous departments across the institution. Over time, inconsistent governance and years of incremental updates made it harder for users to find information and more challenging for internal teams to maintain content efficiently. The college needed a modern digital experience that could simplify navigation, improve content management, and create a more cohesive foundation across its growing network of websites.
Solutions
Americaneagle.com partnered with Moraine Valley Community College to redesign its website on the WordPress platform. The team migrated valuable legacy content, consolidated information, and redesigned key user journeys to reduce navigation complexity and make important resources easier to find. Program pages and related academic content were reorganized to improve exploration and help prospective students more easily discover degrees, certificates, and areas of study.
Because Moraine Valley operates a multisite environment, the project also required careful planning around several related properties. Americaneagle.com developed a strategy that allowed the main site to launch first while additional sites continued through design and development. New site designs were tailored to the unique needs of each property while maintaining familiar content structures and interaction patterns that create a consistent experience across the broader Moraine Valley web ecosystem. Legacy properties that were not redesigned were migrated to preserve valuable content and avoid disruption.
The redesigned website also simplified content management for internal teams. Through a combination of improved page layouts, flexible content components, and hands-on training, department stakeholders gained greater autonomy to create and update pages without relying on developer assistance. The result is a cleaner, easier-to-navigate digital experience for users and a scalable platform that better supports content governance, ongoing site management, and future growth across Moraine Valley’s expanding digital presence.
