Optimizing Global B2B Operations within Drupal CMS

Dixon partnered with Americaneagle.com to transform their digital presence into a more scalable, high-performance, enterprise-grade solution. The project team planned and executed a multi-phased strategy for cloud migration, asset optimization, global domain management, and customer-focused ecommerce website redevelopment. To address the foundational stability of the site, the hosting environment was migrated to Pantheon. By moving to a platform specifically optimized for Drupal, the team confidently offloaded infrastructure management to proven experts, resulting in immediate stabilization and zero downtime since the transition.
To streamline website performance and maintenance, a rigorous asset management protocol was implemented. A standardized process now adds consistency to file names and stores them into a date-based folder structure, eliminating URL errors and improving performance. The team also introduced a “sync-on-demand” mechanism. Images are only copied to pre-production or local environments when specifically requested, reducing local storage requirements. Symfony is now the framework foundation of Dixon’s Drupal tech stack, empowering platform environment capabilities with advanced packages, service injection, routing, container management, templating, and more.
Dixon operates across more than a dozen global domains, including regional subdomains for specific markets. Managing this at scale required customizations to the domain module ecosystem, applying access control logic to applicable entities. The team currently manages translations manually to ensure the highest quality, localized content. For future-ready flexibility, the system was also designed to integrate AI-based translation plugins as content volume scales.
This digital transformation moved away from standard community commerce modules, which lacked the granular control required for complex B2B operations. The team is currently developing a custom Drupal ecommerce solution tailored to Dixon’s specific needs. It will serve as the connective tissue between critical business systems, integrating directly with a custom ERP system for real-time inventory, pricing, and logistics; PIM for centrally-managed product data; and HubSpot to align marketing efforts with customer purchase behavior.
Dixon is welcoming this high-performance digital platform equipped to accelerate their global B2B enterprise. The transition to custom Drupal/NextJS ecommerce and optimized asset management improves the user experience while it empowers the site admin and development team to focus on assets, rather than troubleshooting infrastructure and performance. The resulting, resilient digital ecosystem is ready to successfully scale alongside Dixon’s international growth.
