A Salesforce Implementation Partner Shares the Business Benefits of Salesforce CRM

Many people use their company’s CRM to do their job more efficiently - it acts as their most vital tool on a daily basis. Unfortunately, most companies have problems with their CRM, ranging from minor inconveniences to seriously disabling issues that decrease productivity. The issue? It seems that no one ever does anything to change it. They may see it as too big of a project to complete for their company or the system may be too integrated into their everyday work to change anything about it, but in actuality this is a problem that can be fixed safely and relatively easily. Salesforce has solved the problem of faulty CRMs and companies around the world are already hopping on the bandwagon.

Salesforce was founded in 1999 by Marc Benioff and Parker Harris in San Francisco, California. Since then it has grown into a company with over 150,000 customers and over 30,000 employees. The reason for this growth? They made a product with an amazing UI/UX, an easy to learn training program, and unlimited potential that utilizes thousands of apps for every industry.

The User Interface on Salesforce has always been one of their major selling points because it’s approachable and easy to navigate, but now with the release of their new Lightning Experience Platform, it is even easier to use with a fun look and feel to it. Lightning Experience allows every user to change their front end view so they can prioritize what is important to them without having to contact the admin. Furthermore, different capabilities, permissions and roles can easily be assigned by your company’s Salesforce admin so your CRM can adapt and grow just as quickly as your company does.

One of the main reasons CRMs can be intimidating, even though it is your most relevant tool, is because most people in any given company don’t know how it functions, other than the surface level view they use. Since most people don’t have a degree in computer science or a background in programing, it is understandable that the backend of your company’s CRM is seen as daunting. Luckily, Salesforce took this into consideration and created Trailhead and their Salesforce Certification Exams.

Trailhead is a learning program that can train employees how to use their new CRM in a quick and fun manner, easy to consume. It uses games, small quizzes and easy to navigate courses to teach specific users exactly what they’ll need to succeed. You can learn in a community of other Salesforce users by completing “Trails” and “Trailmixes”. “Trails” are a set of modules grouped together that all teach a different part of the same subject so you can get all the necessary knowledge needed on how you can adapt your CRM specifically for your needs. Once you have completed different trails, you are awarded points and badges. As you continue through the Trailmix, these badges and points unlock increasing levels of Trailblazer rank.

Similarly, a “Trailmix” is a group of trails that cover similar topics or topics that are useful for specific positions. You can make your own trailmixes or follow the trailmixes that others in the community, in similar positions, have made. Once you feel comfortable enough with Salesforce and have completed the right trails, you can actually take a Certification Exam to become Salesforce Certified. This can open up many doors for you, your professional career, and your company as Salesforce is officially “endorsing” you as someone who is qualified to run one of their CRMs and/or the apps involved with it.

Apps are another feature that Salesforce has made even easier through their AppExchange marketplace launched in 2006. Today the AppExchange has over 3,700 apps that all serve different purposes for different industries. Some of these include: Mailchimp, one of the most popular automated email marketing apps, Conga Composer, which allows you to build Microsoft Office templates (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and generate customized documents on-the-fly from your Salesforce data, and Docusign, one of the leading e-signature apps. Salesforce took it a step further by enabling and encouraging its users to build apps through Salesforce. There are even trails and trailmixes where you can learn how to do this so that no matter what industry you are in, you can always adapt Salesforce to work for you and your company.
