Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians
New Website Reflects the Rich Culture and a Warm Welcome to Cherokee, North Carolina

Partnership between the EBCI and Americaneagle.com began with digital marketing campaigns intending to grow targeted audience reach, engagement, and visitor interest. The success of those initial campaigns, which included custom design, rich visuals, and creative messaging that faithfully aligned with a recent rebranding effort, affirmed that it was the right timing and relationship to confidently pursue website redevelopment.
It was a unique challenge for the WordPress team from Americaneagle.com to design in that direction, adapting visual communication consistencies from digital marketing campaigns into responsive and accessible website solutions. It is more typical to go from website inspiration to digital marketing designs. Thoughtfully considered standardizations for layouts, shapes, font consistencies, community-inspired color pallets, as well as curated photo assets, video, and dynamic graphic elements created a clear identity and kinship throughout the new EBCI website.
Key features of the fully redesigned website include interactive maps, comprehensive event listings, and rich multimedia content that highlight Cherokee’s unique cultural offerings and natural beauty. Visitors can now easily navigate through tourism resources, plan their trips, and learn about the history and traditions of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.
Carefully selected and skillfully deployed WordPress plugins have provided EBCI with increased independence and capabilities. They have quickly adopted the intuitive online tools to manage their engaging events calendar, as well as new, intelligently-routed contact forms for specific user inquiries.
The new website is now hosted with Americaneagle.com’s hosting and security partner, WP Engine. The accelerated performance, speed, and ultimate dependability of WP Engine has further enhanced every website user experience.
No longer North Carolina’s best kept secret, the new website at visitcherokeenc.com was recently awarded gold in the website redesign category of the dotCOMM Awards. Introducing new opportunities, the website is showcasing the countless opportunities for guests to enjoy the beautiful 56,600-acre Qualla Boundary in five Western North Carolina counties, as well as respectfully representing the proud, welcoming Cherokee people.
