Bearing Service
Industrial Distributor Goes From “Request-A-Quote” to Seamlessly Selling 1.2 Million SKUs Online
Bearing Service supplies bearings, power transmission products, conveyor components, and other industrial parts to customers across a wide range of industries. With more than 1.2 million products in its catalog, the company depends on accurate product data, customer-specific pricing, and efficient ordering processes to serve its customers effectively.
Challenges
Bearing Service’s legacy website provided product information and a request-a-quote feature, but it lacked the ecommerce capabilities needed to support online ordering. At the same time, the company maintained an exceptionally large and complex product catalog, numerous product families, and thousands of attributes.
To facilitate efficient back-office operations, company leaders needed a new site that could integrate seamlessly with critical business systems. Bearing Service required connections between its OroCommerce platform, product information management (PIM) system, Infor CSD ERP, and shipping providers, while ensuring customer-specific pricing, product information, and order data remained accurate across systems. Bearing Service leaders needed a solution that could manage a large volume of data while delivering an intuitive buying experience for customers.
Solutions
Americaneagle.com designed and implemented an integrated ecommerce ecosystem built around OroCommerce and Akeneo PIM. Together, these platforms gave Bearing Service a scalable foundation for managing more than 1.2 million SKUs and the vast network of attributes, categories, and product relationships that accompany them. Rather than maintaining product information across multiple disconnected systems, Bearing Service can now manage and synchronize product data through an automated process that keeps ecommerce content accurate and up to date.
To support day-to-day business operations, Americaneagle.com developed a custom integration with Infor CSD ERP. Customer data is synchronized regularly, and orders submitted through the website are pushed directly into the ERP system, eliminating manual processes and keeping critical business data connected. The project also included bi-directional synchronization between systems, ensuring information moves where it needs to go without requiring duplicate efforts from internal teams.
The customer experience was transformed as well. Authenticated users can log in to access customer-specific pricing, place orders online, view order history, and search using their own internal part numbers. What was once a largely informational website became a practical purchasing tool that helps customers find products faster and complete orders more efficiently.
Americaneagle.com also integrated shipping services directly into the buying process. Customers can see estimated shipping costs during checkout based on negotiated carrier rates, providing transparency before an order is submitted and reducing the uncertainty that often accompanies complex industrial purchases.
The result is a fully integrated B2B ecommerce platform capable of managing more than a million products while connecting product information, customer data, pricing, ordering, and fulfillment into a single experience. For Bearing Service, the project was not simply a website redesign. It was the creation of a digital commerce operation built to support the scale and complexity of its business.
