How Shopify Plus Integration Enhanced Seedburo’s B2B Ecommerce Operations

Founded in 1912, Seedburo Equipment Company is a manufacturer and distributor of handling, testing, and grading equipment for the grain, feed, and seed industries. Due to various acquisitions and arrangements, Seedburo can exclusively distribute many lines of equipment, some of which include Seedburo Grain Probes, Boerner and Precision Dividers, Burrows Moisture Testers, Ohaus Grading Scales, and more.

Challenges

Seedburo faced challenges as it sought to modernize its digital presence and enhance operations. Its existing Shopify Advanced platform had become outdated and no longer met its growing needs. Seedburo wanted a more sophisticated website with better user experience capabilities, enhanced B2B features, and improved customer and order management capabilities. It also needed a platform that could integrate seamlessly with its existing ERP system to provide more detailed product information. With a demographic shift toward younger customers, Seedburo aimed to drive more business online and saw Americaneagle.com, with its extensive B2B experience and expertise in ERP integrations, as the ideal partner for this transformation.

Solutions

Americaneagle.com’s solution involved upgrading Seedburo from Shopify Advanced to Shopify Plus. The entire website was redesigned to deliver a modern, sophisticated look that also provided an improved user experience. To meet Seedburo’s specific needs, Americaneagle.com collaborated with a third-party to create a custom integration with Seedburo’s ERP system, enabling seamless quote creation, inventory synchronization, fulfillment updates, and more.

One of the standout features of the project was the implementation of the Avalara for Shopify Connector, which Americaneagle.com was the first agency to implement. This tool integrates directly into Shopify, enhancing tax management for international sales. To further enhance the user experience, Shopify Search and Discovery was used to upgrade Seedburo’s search tool, allowing for custom settings, filters, and synonyms that brought them to native Shopify functionality.

Shopify Flow was set up to enable custom automations, such as abandoned cart and checkout notifications, improving business efficiency. Additionally, Shopify Forms were used for creating custom forms, like ‘request a catalog,’ which enhanced customer interaction. To ensure seamless promotions, automatic discounts for promo codes were enabled, simplifying the process for customers.

Americaneagle.com also leveraged Matrixify, a Shopify app, to schedule imports that consistently update prices from the ERP in real-time, helping Seedburo stay on top of price changes. Product detail pages (PDPs) were implemented for products with many variations and Quick Order List was used to enable customers to quickly generate a picklist of products for checkout. Lastly, Shopify Markets was used to facilitate international sales, with Avalara managing tax rules and shipping rules implemented through Shopify and managed by Americaneagle.com.

The collaboration between Seedburo and Americaneagle.com resulted in a robust, modernized digital platform that not only met Seedburo’s growing business needs but also positioned the company to better serve its evolving customer base. The new Shopify Plus platform, with its enhanced B2B features, seamless ERP integration, and improved user experience, has empowered Seedburo to drive more business online, streamline operations, and remain competitive in an increasingly digital B2B marketplace.
