Complete Site Redesign and Redevelopment for MWCOG, Americaneagle.com Client of 15 Years
ALEXANDRIA, VA--(Marketwired - September 27, 2016) - Award-winning web design and development company Americaneagle.com recently completed a full redesign and redevelopment project for the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG), a nonprofit association of 22 local governments.
Americaneagle.com and MWCOG have an outstanding relationship, having worked together for 15 years; Americaneagle.com initially built an internet site for MWCOG back in 2001. The initial objective of their latest project was to re-structure the site and make sense of the vast amount of content it held, including a library of about 25,000 event and meeting documents and over 1,000 news articles. Before the site was redeveloped, the content was organized according to MWCOG's internal departments as opposed to a structure that front-end users could easily understand.
MWCOG audited its content, and Americaneagle.com created a strategy for the project and completed all the design and development work. The project focused on redesigning the user interface with an eye to a more modular design allowing the client to control page layouts more easily, making the site responsive so that it would work seamlessly with mobile devices, and modernizing the CMS tool sets to improve admin management of content and controlling site layouts.
The Americaneagle.com team also integrated the site with Abila's netFORUM Enterprise system, and created a content strategy based around shared tagging/keywords and dynamic listing modules to better disseminate content across the site sections.
John Snarr, Principal Planner and Technical Manager at MWCOG, commented: "The new site is thoroughly modern and is much easier for our users to navigate and for us to manage. One of the most impressive features Americaneagle.com added is the tagging feature which makes information easier to find, as it now appears in all relevant locations. The integration with our association management software has also been extremely helpful and has certainly increased efficiency. This was an expansive project, and we are very pleased with the outcome."
Mike Svanascini, Americaneagle.com's President, commented: "As with all our projects this one was unique, designed to fill the specific needs of MWCOG, so many of the tools we added to the new site were customized in various ways. We are proud to have created a site that meets the needs and expectations of MWCOG and is welcoming to those that visit the site."
