Congratulations to American Pharoah and the Belmont Stakes
Des Plaines, IL-Frederico Tesio, one of the greatest breeders of thoroughbreds in the history of horse racing, said “a horse gallops with his lungs, perseveres with his heart, and wins with his character.” This past Saturday at the Belmont Stakes, all of those attributes were on display as the great American Pharoah dashed into horse racing immortality in winning the Belmont Stakes and the Triple Crown. Leading from start to finish, American Pharoah displayed the true grit and determination of a legendary champion.
Americaneagle.com would like to join the rest of the nation and world in congratulating American Pharoah on becoming racing’s 12th Triple Crown winner.
As the designer, developer, and host of the official Belmont Stakes website, we’re proud to call the New York Racing Authority a long-time customer.
With the intense interest in the Belmont Stakes due to the potential Triple Crown, it was necessary to plan ahead and anticipate the capacity needed to handle the incredible increase in traffic to the official Belmont Stakes website that occurred over the weekend.
Americaneagle.com CTO, Ryan McElrath, said “To prepare for Saturday, we drew from our many years of experience hosting websites during high traffic events, including previous Belmont Stakes races. We made sure the site’s programming/database operations were optimized and verified that we were leveraging the site’s content delivery network (CDN) as much as possible. We had seen a couple near miss Triple Crown winners over the past several years so it was great to see American Pharoah finally do it this year and that the website was able to handle the additional traffic that resulted from a Triple Crown result.”
Thanks to past experience, Americaneagle.com was able to flawlessly handle the increased traffic in our highly secure, state of the art data center. Our experienced team prepared and was on hand to ensure that the site remained online - and fast - before, during, and after the exciting race.
We’d like to thank our dedicated and talented staff for all of their hard work, along with the great team at the New York Racing Authority as well. As the great Vince Lombardi said, "Individual commitment to a group effort - that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work."
Congratulations to American Pharoah and to the Belmont Stakes on a historic Saturday that will go down in history!
