Created by the Hess Corporation as a way to provide a fun, high-quality, and affordable toy for families during the holiday season, the first Hess Toy Truck was introduced in 1964. For over 50 years, Hess Toy Truck has carried on this tradition, releasing several limited-run products each year that appeal both to collectors and children: all with working lights and sounds, batteries included.
Hess Toy Truck sells one toy, three times a year and when those products are introduced the site has to be capable of processing 3,000 orders per minute. Hess needed a new platform that would match the company’s unique business requirements with added integration points that would assist with data flow in and out of their ecommerce system.
Hess came to Americaneagle.com for an ecommerce solution that would meet all of their goals for continued growth. The BigCommerce platform was selected for its scalability and capacity to handle a high volume of orders at once. After planning out an initial strategy, Americaneagle.com got to work on creating an ecommerce interface that is optimized for driving sales and conversions. To ensure the legacy of the brand wasn’t lost in the redesign, the graphics team created a new design that incrementally improved the user experience while still preserving the overall look and feel of the site. Further enhancements were made to the back-end performance of the site to stop lazy loading issues and increase site speeds.
Since launching, the new Hess Toy Truck website continues to offer joy each holiday season with a robust, mobile-friendly user experience that keeps up with the way customers shop today.
