Palos Heights Parks and Recreation (PHPR) is located in the southern suburbs of Chicago and serves over 12,000 residents. PHPR partnered with Americaneagle.com on a complete redesign of their website. The main goal of the website redesign was to improve communications to residents and the general public, as well as to portray a more professional image through a stand-alone, user-friendly website. Americaneagle.com worked with the Park District as it moved into the next generation of technology. The entire website was built on a new and expandable platform that helps the Park District ensure that as technologies evolve, new components can be developed. Americaneagle.com avoided complex elements that would increase page-loading times or require advanced browser features. The idea is to use technologies that are accessible, purposeful and cost effective. The new site has a navigation that is easy to use and allows users to access information in as few clicks as possible. Overall, the goal of the design portion of the website strengthens the image of the Palos Heights Parks and Recreation to website visitors through a fun and interactive site. The functional elements of the new site work in tandem with the creative elements to ensure an enjoyable and productive user experience.
