Everything You Need to Know About Google Analytics 4

Google Analytics is getting a makeover! On October 14, 2020, Google announced a new version of their analytics platform referred to as Google Analytics 4.

The new version includes expanded predictive insights, more integration with Google Ads, more granular data controls, and better cross-device measurement capabilities.

It is meant to build on the foundation of the App + Web property that was introduced in beta by Google last year. It is an initiative to utilize machine learning for better insights into customer behavior across multiple devices and platforms.

Should You Update to Google Analytics 4?

You may be wondering what actions are needed at this point.  Do you need to upgrade now?  Will you lose any data if you don’t?  When do you need to make the switch?

Rest assured, you have some time.  While the new Google Analytics is available for setup, Google has acknowledged there are capabilities still needed before fully replacing your existing analytics setup.

If you’d like to test Google Analytics 4, Google has suggested to create a new Google Analytics 4 property and run it alongside your existing analytics properties.  This will allow you to explore the new features without impacting any of your existing data.

Stay Tuned for More Updates

As more information becomes available, we’ll share updates and best practices to help you make the switch while getting the most out of the latest version. Better data equals better digital decisions, which is something we can all look forward to!
