Americaneagle.com. Selected to Redesign Web Site of NHL Team
Americaneagle.com, a leading Web site design, development and hosting company, announced today that it was selected by the San Jose Sharks, a National Hockey League team, to redesign its current Web site, www.sjsharks.com.
Americaneagle.com is excited about the opportunity to employ its sports-industry expertise to this redesign project. Tony Svanascini, President of Americaneagle.com, states, "San Jose is a strong organization with a great fan base. Like our other sports clients, we feel that this partnership is going to be a long-lasting one. We look forward to helping the Sharks organization strengthen and expand its fan base through this new Web site."
Americaneagle.com brings a lot of experience to this project. To date, Americaneagle.com has completed over 2,300 Web sites of which over 100 are for sports-industry clients. Just this year Americaneagle.com has developed sites on both the collegiate and professional sports level including the New York Giants, Chicago Blackhawks, the Daytona International Speedway, University of Pittsburgh and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. A redesign of the Vanderbilt University Athletics Web site is currently underway as well.
A primary goal behind the redesign of www.sjsharks.com is to enhance the fan experience through exciting graphics and a new user-friendly interface. It is also to build a comprehensive content management system into the back end of the site allowing the Sharks to update its Web site in house using word-processor like editing tools. Americaneagle.com has been employing its customized content management system on hundreds of Web sites over the years and the Sharks’ new site will contain the latest technology.
Roger Ross, Director of Communications and Internet Services for Silicon Valley Sports & Entertainment (SVSE), the Sharks’ management company, affirms, "Americaneagle.com’s content management tool is one of the best available. It will not only allow the Sharks and SVSE to save money and manpower in updating our sites, but will allow us to decentralize the updating process, which will create better internal service for all our properties."
Some other exciting enhancements of the redesigned Web site include: an expanded multimedia section for streaming video and audio files of player interviews, game highlights, and press conferences; an interactive chart which allows fans to view players in position and quickly pull up player stats and bio information; and, an integrated online e-commerce store filled with San Jose Sharks merchandise.
"Our sports clients are always looking for ways to improve their revenue stream and the e-commerce portion of this project will be an important element of that goal, "said Mike Svanascini, Chief Operating Officer of Americaneagle.com. "A better shopping experience results in fewer abandoned shopping carts and ultimately, higher profits overall."
As part of the agreement, Americaneagle.com will also host, maintain, and redesign a total of 13 Web sites owned by SVSE including the HP Pavilion at San Jose Web site, www.hppsj.com, the home of the San Jose Sharks.
Building the Web site for accessibility by wireless customers will also be a focus, but there are plenty of other Web site features on the horizon as well.
Roger Ross said, "The services provided by Americaneagle.com have thus far been outstanding. From our initial discussions, through the migration of our 13 sites, they have superbly managed the process… we are looking forward to relying on their experience in the sports arena for innovative solutions down the road."
The new sjsharks.com Web site is slated to launch in early 2005.
