Originally designed in 2003, the Portillo Restaurant Group was looking to create a stronger Web presence that would effectively showcase their multiple restaurant concepts within one online portal.
Designed with a new layout and navigation system, the new Portillos.com allows online visitors to instantly find and view specific details about each of the Portillo Group’s restaurants. Indeed, sub sites were created to allow for each restaurant to showcase its unique atmosphere, menus, and locations. While each of the site’s five sub sites feature specific image slideshows and individual branding elements, they all remain connected to the overarching branding of the Portillo Restaurant Group.
When looking to make a purchase through the site, online visitors will notice new functionality within the site’s e-commerce store. Built upon the idev® platform, the online store was upgraded to include a new account login area which provides customers with the option to save wishlists, create gift reminders, view their account history, and more. Furthermore, the online store was built to accommodate the unique shipping requirements of the perishable food items and features an interactive shipping calendar, allowing customers to select specific dates of delivery.
What’s more, Portillos.com will soon feature a wireless Website in the near future. This will allow users to access menus, locations, contact information, and much more, directly from their Web-enabled mobile device.
In addition to a new Website, Americaneagle.com also created a brand new Web-based catering system for the Portillo Restaurant Group. The new online application replaces the outdated desktop application and works to streamline catering operations. Unlike their previous system, the new custom-built e-catering system is flexible and fully scalable, allowing designated administrators to edit/add/delete products and categories, create restrictions, build up a customer database, keep track of inventory, and much more. The system was also developed with real-time access, allowing staff to view the most current information at any particular moment in time. This real-time access makes it possible for designated Portillo Group administrators to view customer order history, make modifications, trigger e-mail reminders, and track orders, all on-the-fly. Furthermore, custom reporting tools were built into the system to enable accurate reports to be created based on store, date, or item category.
