What the January 2020 Google Algorithm Update Means for You

New Year, New Algorithm Updates!

Have you noticed fluctuations with your website traffic? It may be due to a recent core algorithm update confirmed by Google.

On January 13, 2020, Google announced a broad core algorithm update named the January 2020 Core Update.  The announcement was made on the Google SearchLiaison Twitter account (@searchliaison).

While Google did not share specifics on what the algorithm update entailed, they included a link for their guidance about algorithm updates on a blog post titled, ‘What Webmasters Should Know about Google’s Core Updates’ (originally published on August 1, 2019).

Quality Content & User Experience is Key

The impact of this algorithm update is yet to be determined, but the common trend in the most recent algorithm updates comes down to quality.  The days of thin, keyword-stuffed content are long gone and user experience is key.  The algorithms are becoming increasingly intuitive to understand what makes a positive user experience and this simply cannot be overlooked in 2020.
