Senior Sitecore developers James Gregory, Mohammed Syam and Ahmed Okour from Americaneagle.com won the Sitecore Hackathon 2019 in Best JSS Module category.
The 2019 Sitecore Hackathon is an online, community-driven event supported by Sitecore where teams participate to build the best Sitecore modules in 24 hours! The modules categories are announced minutes before the Hackathon starts. With almost 100 teams participating from over 25 countries, the modules submissions are examined by a group of community judges.
What did the team build?
The team named their module JSS Trackable Link Module. Inspired by the SBOS team's previous work, this Trackable Links module enables content authors and marketers in Sitecore 9.1 JSS to associate Sitecore Goals and Events to general link fields. Both Content Editor and Experience Editor link dialogs are supported. A <TrackableLink /> ReactJS component is offered as an extension of the default Sitecore <Link /> component. This component will seamlessly apply the intended goals and events in the JSS platform to the user's interaction when the link is clicked. This compliments Sitecore's default behavior of tracking on page view and tightens focus on user click choices. Use cases include A/B testing multiple CTAs to the same page, tracking of external links, and many more! All of these data points empower marketers to personalize messaging to the visitor.
