Overview

First staged in 1901, the Chicago Auto Show is the largest and oldest auto show in North America and has been held more times than any other auto exposition on the continent. 2013 marked the 105th edition of the Chicago Auto Show. Since 1935, the show has been produced by the Chicago Automobile Trade Association, the nation's oldest and largest metropolitan dealer organization.

Goals

The Chicago Automotive Trade Association (CATA) first contacted Americaneagle.com in 2004 following various issues they had encountered with their existing website at the time. In turning to Americaneagle.com, CATA’s goal was to fully redevelop ChicagoAutoShow.com with a strong focus on key components such as navigation and browser compatibility. In 2012, now a longtime and valued customer, the Chicago Auto Show wanted to focus on increasing their online and mobile sales. With a mobile strategy, they could offer a unique experience before and during the show, mobile ticketing, and more. They also sought to add new interactive features to the site to generate more buzz.

Summary

The new website for the Chicago Auto Show was revamped with a bold new design and several upgraded functionalities, including a new homepage image slideshow, RSS feeds, Flash accents, an interactive show floor plan, and printable media badges. ChicagoAutoShow.com has several key features, including a photo -based Show History, multimedia galleries, vehicles on display, interactive tour, and media, sponsor, and exhibitor tools. The wealth of videos and images in the popular Vehicles on Display area offer a comprehensive listing of current and future models to generate plenty of pre-show buzz and help encourage ticket sales. The mobile site gives customers the option to purchase show tickets and obtain show information via their mobile devices in a mobile-friendly, easy-to-use format. At the show, customers were able to bring their purchased ticket up on their mobile device. Each mobile ticket included a bar code that was scanned upon entry, eliminating the need for printed tickets. After the success of the 2012 site, the Chicago Auto Show once again turned to Americaneagle.com for the 2013 site. The site was enhanced with a new look, and the CATA expects even better results in the coming years. With more multimedia tools, social publishing, and appealing graphics, the Chicago Auto Show website gives users an exciting sneak preview of the show.

In 2012, as a result of the mobile platform and ticketing solution, ticket sales surged. Tickets were scanned upon entry, streamlining the entry process and allowing patrons to go green with a paperless solution.
