Situation: Founded in 2002, Dale & Thomas Popcorn is the fastest growing gourmet popcorn company in the United States. While they currently operate 12 retail locations, Dale and Thomas aspires to further their success by eventually opening 2,000 stores nationwide, and possibly, worldwide. After considering several other Web developers, Dale and Thomas Popcorn chose Americaneagle.com as their Web partner.

Objective: Dale and Thomas Popcorn was looking to establish a new Web presence that would complement their renewed popcorn packaging. In addition, they were looking to upgrade the functionality found on their Web site in order to make the shopping process easier and more rewarding for customers.

Solution: To achieve Dale and Thomas Popcorn's goals, Americaneagle.com implemented the following elements:

Renewed Design: Americaneagle.com created a custom design to fit the refreshed look and feel of the Dale and Thomas Popcorn packaging. Following communication, recognition of branding, and strategy building, Americaneagle.com was able to create a bold design that accurately complemented the popcorn company's identity.

Upgraded Navigation: Given the variety of popcorn products and options, DaleandThomas.com was restructured to include an enhanced navigation system. The new system includes horizontal navigation options which allow shoppers to quickly shop by flavor or price, while updated vertical navigation allows shoppers to shop by category or gift.

Product Page Enhancements: All product pages on the site were improved with many of the newest Web 2.0 features. Customers can now get a quick view all the different popcorn flavor options on product pages with an AJAX-driven dropdown menu, with the ability to enlarge any image. Furthermore, each product page includes up-selling and cross-selling tools, which displays complementary and related items, allowing for customers to make complete purchases within one page.

E-commerce: The shopping cart found on the Dale and Thomas Popcorn Web site was created utilizing innovative new technology in online retailing. Indeed, the side panel shopping cart provides customers with the option to save, email, or print the contents of their shopping cart for future reference. The dynamic system also works to make checkout as hassle-free as possible by easily breaking down the process into 3 simple steps: billing, shipping, and payment. What's more, customers can take advantage of key features including an area to enter promotion codes, an interactive shipping calendar which allows shoppers to chose a specific delivery date, gift messages, last-chance items, and much more.

Impact Results: In order to provide Dale and Thomas with the control they needed, Americaneagle.com built a custom tool that allows them to control more than 90% of the site. This flexibility allows them to effectively market their products. Americaneagle.com launched the site within a few months and in time for the holiday season. Given the new design and functionality, online holiday sales for Dale and Thomas are projected to increase significantly over last year.
