MacNeil Automotive

MacNeil Automotive had a large site offering approximately 2350 items. However, their original site would not accommodate the addition of images, nor could they perform quick searches through the items. For this reason, MacNeil Automotive approached Americaneagle.com for a redesign of their site. They wanted to provide their customers with an easy, efficient way of searching through their extensive line of automotive accessories.

Solutions:

Improving Navigation
Americaneagle.com designed the online catalog with this in mind, simplifying the navigation of the site with the addition of three separate search functions. Efficient navigation to product information from the homepage cuts through many unnecessary steps and helps customers pull up product information much more quickly, a key factor in online sales.

Enhancing Graphics and Presentation
In addition to improving navigation of the catalog, Americaneagle.com also helped MacNeil Automotive improve the graphics and content of their online catalog as well. The old site for MacNeil Automotive did not contain product images. Americaneagle.com helped MacNeil Automotive add thumbnail images for each product so that customers could visualize the accessories as they shop online. By clicking on the image of each product, the customer can also pull up additional product information and specifications for each item available on the Web site.

Adding Advanced Search Functionality
Americaneagle.com designed three types of searches for the MacNeil automotive Web site, all accessible from the homepage. Customers are able to perform a traditional search through a hierarchy of product lines. They are also able to do a category search by clicking on the category image and name. But most remarkably, customers are able to perform a vehicle search by inputting the make, model, and year in order to pull up relevant accessory information. This "speed" search dramatically reduces the amount of time and effort that a customer would need in order to find this information through a traditional search or through a paper-based catalog. Since all of these searches are possible from the homepage, navigation has been dramatically simplified so that customers can proceed directly to the ordering process without having to spend time reading unnecessary information.

Content Management System
And finally, Americaneagle.com developed an administrative section that allows MacNeil Automotive to update product information instantaneously. This administrative section allows them to add, edit, or delete item information through a simple form on the Web site. This functionality allows MacNeil Automotive to keep their product line fresh and current directly through the Web site.

Results:

The MacNeil Web site has enjoyed tremendous success since undergoing its recent redesign. Sales have improved remarkably as the site now generates millions of dollars per year.
